Who You Are:

BridgeBio has recently received approvals for two products, and we expect to gain more approvals over time, leading our transformation from a clinical-stage biopharma to a commercial one. The world is awash in retail data, and as part of our transformation, we must understand what factors drive successful launches quantitatively. The summer intern, machine learning, will help explore commercial datasets and generate insights into predictors of successful drug launches. This is an excellent opportunity to understand what is truly important to patients and physicians while taking/prescribing medicines, how medicines are commercialized and apply machine learning to drive business outcomes. To succeed in this role, you will need a deep understanding of machine learning algorithms, knowledge of statistical analyses, and an ability to communicate complex, technical ideas in a simple manner.

  • You will take ownership over the entire effort of building out this pipeline of top technical talent. The specific responsibilities we expect this will entail include:
  • Use a broad array of available datasets to identify factors responsible for successful drug launches
  • Stay up to date on state-of-the-art machine learning literature; mainly as applied to a commercial-stage biopharma company
  • Develop custom data models and algorithms to apply to data sets
  • Identify and acquire other data assets and improve the accessibility of this information by building tools to query the data along with existing datasets interactively
  • Communicate results and analyses clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Collaborate with operating personnel throughout the BridgeBio portfolio

Education, Experience & Skills Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree required (ideally in a relevant science field)
  • Advanced degree, especially relevant Ph.D., ideal
  • Passion for helping patients
  • Strong background in a variety of machine learning techniques (clustering, decision tree learning, artificial neural networks, etc.) and their real-world advantages/drawbacks
  • Knowledge of advanced statistical techniques and concepts (regression, properties of distributions, statistical tests, proper usage, etc.) and experience with applications
  • A drive to learn and master new technologies and techniques
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for coordinating across teams
  • Entrepreneurial spirit and ability to work independently
  • Deep understanding of core elements of BBP culture, values, and priorities

What We Offer:
  • Patient Days, where we are fortunate enough to learn more about the lives we are looking to impact and a real exchange of ideas as to how we can improve our efforts
  • A culture inspired by our values: put patients first; think independently, be radically transparent; every minute counts, and let the science speak
  • Learning and development training to help employees be the best version of themselves
  • Collaborative business environment
  • With office locations in San Francisco, Boston, New York, and Raleigh, there are ample cross-collaboration opportunities with other BridgeBio Pharma programs
  • A fast-paced, data-driven, work environment with world-class R&D minds and capabilities
  • Work with the most productive groups of R&D operators in the industry
  • Partnerships with leading institutions
  • A platform for meaningful scientific contributions to shine
  • Commitment to Diversity & Inclusion - with initiatives like Women at Bridge, we are committed to fostering an inclusive environment where every person feels respected for who they are, empowered to contribute, inspired to lead, and supported in their efforts to do so
