In this role you'll be a mentor to other data scientists in the team as a technical expert in statistical and machine learning methods by guiding, reviewing methods and models to ensure accuracy and performance.Balancing excellent business communication skills with a deep analytical understanding is needed to 1) successfully build never-been-done-before analytic solutions and 2) interface daily with engineering business leaders and management teams.Role and ResponsibilitiesSpecific Responsibilities include:Deliver ML models that solve challenging wireless communication business problems of detecting and predicting anomalies in wireless performance using time series dataWorks on planning process including inception, technical design, development, testing and delivery of statistical and machine learning modelsAnalyze business functional requirement and translate these requirements into robust, scalable and operable solutionsCollaborate with multiple teams such as product development, technology research groups and executive sponsors to develop novel, practical, and operationalized analytics that drive explicit business value at the customer levelAssists in data conversions, imports, and exports with and between internal and external software systemsAnalyze and test new releases/versions of software and participate in vendor evaluationsDefine best practices for ingestion, processing, continuous validation of performance metrics quantitatively using descriptive and predictive analyticsDemonstrated track record of starting and leading interdisciplinary research and engineering projects.Excellent communication skills and values building strong relationships with colleagues and partners as well as the ability to explain sophisticated topics in straightforward termsExtensive experience coding and building solutions using R & Python, SQLSolid understanding of Docker and Kubernetes. Experience with fast prototypingEvangelize best practices in all aspects of the engineering and modeling lifecyclesSkills and QualificationsGraduate/Ph.D. Degree in Computer Science and/or Statistics with background in Wireless telecom will be a definite plus5+ years' experience developing analytic results that directly inform and/or enable quantifiable business action, either by providing insights or building analytic applications5+ years Statistical programming expertise: R required; Python & Spark preferred3+ years Big data mining expertise: Hive & Impala required; SQL preferredExpert in data extraction and data query languages (SQL, Hive, etc) with demonstrated experience understanding data storage structures, indexes, partitioning and optimization methods to improve query performance and storing results to database structures (MySQL, Postgres, Oracle, HaDoop, etc)Machine learning expertise: GLM Regression (Linear, Logistic, Multinomial), Decision Tree (including Boosted Trees, Random Forest), kMeans/Hierarchical Clustering, Principle Component Analysis, Neural Networks, Bayesian Regression, and Times Series ModelingExperience using data with high-volume (1TB+) & high-dimensionality (500+ variables per schema), especially within a big data framework (HaDoop, Citus)Experience performing Data Wrangling, Exploratory Data Analysis (EDA), Correlation Analysis, Statistical Methodologies (distributions, hypothesis testing, confidence intervals) & Significance Testing, A/B Testing, Data transformation and NormalizationExperience dealing with data quality issues, missing and invalid data, processing regular or irregular time series dataExperience with basic navigation and administrative functions of linux/unix operating systems.Must possess qualities of being curious and eagerness to learnExperience with data visualization and ability to quickly grasp statistical methods, and methodologies. Maintain a strong command of current data analytics technology trends, including emerging paradigms and practicesDemonstrated research and problem solving skills via prior work experience. Experience with wireless infrastructure provider and/or operator is desiredMust have a strong work ethic, integrity and work extremely well in a team environmentMust be able to perform duties in a group or individual capacity with minimal oversight or directionPhysical/Mental Demands and Working Conditions: The position requires the ability to perform the essential duties and responsibilities in the following environment:Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
