Since its launch in 2014, Guardant360 has been used by more than 6,000 oncologists, over 50 biopharmaceutical companies and all 27 of the National Comprehensive Cancer Network centers.Job DescriptionGuardant's Lunar-1program is applying cutting-edge methods in next-generation sequencing (NGS) to develop blood-based, non-invasive approaches to detect early stage cancers using a variety of genomic and epigenomic markers. As a member of the team, you'll be responsible for optimizing and improving Guardant'sassay by designing critical experiments, analyzing the resulting data, and improving calling models. You'll be working closely with multiple functional teams - including laboratory scientists, software engineers, testing and quality engineers, and medical affairs personnel - providing excellent opportunities to interact with and learn from a large number of specialists. You will also be required to summarize and present your work to a diverse audience of functional teams, as well as making recommendations leading to assay improvements.Guardant's LUNARprogram seeks to leverage our leadership in the field of liquid biopsy to address a core unmet need in clinical cancer care. Its success is being driven by a team of highly-motivated experts such as yourself, passionate about the potential to revolutionize the field of cancer diagnosis and management thus saving patient lives.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:* Build and improve statistical models to analyze genomic and epigenomic markers in cell-free DNA data generated by Guardant's proprietary assay* Analyze large volumes of NGS data and work in conjunction with assay development scientists to plan experiments and establish optimal assay conditions* Keep up with the state of the art in the field and suggest novel methods, markers, and approaches to early cancer detection* Keep detailed, reproducible documentation of analysis, methods, and version-controlled code* Present results of your work to the broader organizationQualifications:* PhD in bioinformatics, computational biology, cancer genomics or related fields + 3+ years of relevant industry experience* Expertise in next-generation sequencing data generation, processing, and analysis, including experience in developing novel statistical methods and machine learning applications* Experience in analyzing public epigenomic datasets such as TCGA, Epigenomic Roadmap and ENCODE* Proficiency in Python (including modern data analysis packages) as well as working on distributed, high-performance computing Linux environments* Excellent communication and presentation skills, ability work across functional teams and with non-experts* Ability to make a difference in a fast-paced startup environment#LI-MT1Additional InformationEmployee may be required to lift routine office supplies and use office equipment. Majority of the work is performed in a desk/office environment; however, there may be exposure to high noise levels, fumes, and biohazard material in the laboratory environment.
